Why I Chose this Book

I chose the book Hoot by Carl Hiaasen because my mom read it and thought it was a good book for me to read. Then I saw the advertisement for the movie and found out that it’s about a group of kids who try to stop a businessman from destroying an owl habitat. Additionally I’m interested in all environmental issues because I think they’re important and crucial to how we live, work and play. For instance, pollution can poison our drinking water and Global Warming could wipe many species out. Melting glaciers already cause flooding and increase the intensity and frequency of hurricanes. There are many things we have yet to learn about the balance of nature and animals. I also enjoy nature stories.
